About

Building Materials Outlet (BMO) has been performing building material liquidations and auctions since 1963.

The family-owned operation has continued to work together and expand their business throughout the United States – serving the Midwest, Southwest, and Southeast.

Auction/Liquidation Business Model:

Building supply manufacturers – businesses like line yards, lumber yards, mill work houses, plumbing distributors and more – throughout the country need a platform to sell discontinued and excess inventory. BMO provides that platform for the manufacturers, passing the liquidation pricing on to you, the customer.

Eventually, even BMO needs to make room for new products which is where the auction portion of our business comes in. This clearing sale can be found online where you can bid on items for potentially lower pricing. Auction items can be viewed and inspected in store while the auction is open. Once the auction closes, the highest bidder “wins” the item for the price bid and, by bidding, agrees to come in store to pay and pick up the item(s).

Store Policies

Building Materials Outlet sells all merchandise on consignment from vendors. Prices are determined by individual vendors. 90% of all inventory is brand new – products may consist of discontinued items, stock overruns, and excess inventory. Everything is sold as is, where is, with no implied warranties.

A 12% Buyer’s Premium is charged on all purchases. Inventory is not owned by BMO, so the 12% Buyer’s Premium is added to cover the costs incurred by BMO to be able to offer products at below retail prices.

Flatbed carts, shopping carts, and other related items are around the store for your convenience. Additionally, our friendly staff are happy to assist you with lifting heavy items. All you have to do is ask! Yardsticks can be found near the front desk if you forgot your tape measure, and, if your eyes are bigger than your…truck, we can hold purchased items for up to 7 calendar days so you can come back later with a bigger truck, more friends, or both.

Return Policy: ALL SALES ARE FINAL. All merchandise is sold as is – no warranties, refunds, exchanges, returns or guarantees. We highly encourage you to inspect your merchandise carefully prior to purchasing, including knowing and double checking your measurements. You will be required to sign an acknowledgement of our No Returns policy at checkout.

Payment Methods: We accept cash, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express and debit cards. Cardholder MUST be present at the time of purchase. All purchases MUST be made in store. NO CHECKS OR MONEY ORDERS.

Online Auctions: Some of the best deals can be found in our online auctions, but you must register to participate.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Where does your inventory come from? Our items come from building material manufacturers when they have excess inventory, discontinued products, manufacturing mistakes, liquidations, or otherwise need to reset. BMO operates similar to a consignment depot – selling items on consignment from our vendors and passing the savings on to you. Because the vendors set our pricing, all prices are NON-NEGOTIABLE.

Do you deliver? Unfortunately, no. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Are you open to the public? Absolutely! There are no membership fees, entry fees, or passes required. Come on in; we’re glad you’re here.

Is there a minimum purchase requirement? Nope – your budget is yours.

How do you handle returns or exchanges? Short answer, we don’t. ALL SALES ARE FINAL. All merchandise is sold as is with no warranties, refunds, exchanges, returns or guarantees.

Is there a warranty on the products? No. Everything is sold as is, without any warranty – implied or otherwise. We strongly encourage you to make a list and check it twice, including measurements.

How do auctions work? To participate in an auction, you must register on the BidBMOMN.com website. From there, you can view all the open auction lots. We require you to come in store and take a look at any items on which you wish to bid. Your bid is a binding agreement for purchase – we want to make sure you are aware of the size, quantity, and quality of the item before you place your bid. Check those measurements too, so you have a large enough vehicle and plenty of friends to help you load. Place your bid online and, once the auction closes, you will be notified if you were the highest bidder and “won” the items. From there, come in store during our auction pickup hours (Monday – Friday 8:00am – 4:00pm, Saturday 8:00am – 12:00pm (noon), Closed Sunday) to pay for and take home your items.

Can I bring my pet? While we love our furry friends, we are a warehouse business and therefore pets are not allowed. For the safety of your four-legged friend, our customers and staff, please leave your pet at home. Service dogs performing trained tasks, as defined by the ADA, are always welcome.

What is a child waiver and why do I have to sign it? BMO is a fully functional and operational warehouse, and that includes all of the risks involved with warehouse operations. For your child’s safety and our peace of mind (and yes, insurance reasons), children under the age of 15 must be supervised by an adult at all times. To ensure the adult is aware of that responsibility, we have you sign a waiver of liability. Our goal is to make everyone’s shopping experience enjoyable and safe.
